My work is a series of five woodcut prints inspired by images associated with significant memories I have from the summer I spent in Norway. Each individual print is named with the location of where the memory took place. The collection is made up of five reductive relief prints, each with 5–6 layers of ink and a similar color scheme between prints. Each image has five editions. I chose to use wood blocks because they allowed me to create expressive and unique textures and marks. I was inspired by Charles Beck's style in his large relief prints, which I grew up looking at, as well as Edvard Munch's prints of Nordic landscapes
Printed on 25 x 18.5 in. Thai Mulberry Paper
On display in St. Olaf's Flatten Museum, April 30 to May 30 2021.
